Introduction:
Hello boys & girls! Now that we've been learning about rocks, are you curious about where all of these rocks come from? How they're formed? How they can change from one type of rock into another? Do you think a magician does it? Of course not! So to understand how rocks are formed, you need to understand the rock cycle. Rocks don't just come out of nowhere; rather, they have been recycled over and over again. Although it takes thousands and millions of years for rocks to change, they are constantly being formed, worn down, and then formed again! You've learned about three different types of rocks already: igneous, sedimentary & metamorphic. Which of these three categories the many different types of rocks belong to depends on how the rock was formed. |
