A WebQuest on the Skeletal System

Designed for Grades 1 & 2

Meet Dr. Funnybone! He is the archeologist in charge of the ‘big dig’ going on at Central School’s playground. Dr. Funnybone and his team of scientists have dug up the skeletal remains of a pre-historic caveman. Yikes! There is only one problem, because the skeleton has been buried underground for so long the bones are all mixed up. Dr. Funnybone and his team know that Mrs. Jensvold’s first and second graders are studying the human body and have asked for their help putting this crazy skeleton back in order!

Your Challenge:

Use the Internet to find charts and diagrams of the human skeleton. Using this information create your own skeleton painting. You can use white paint on black paper to draw your diagram. Then label all the big and important bones in the body. Make sure you include; the skull, vertebrate, ribs, humerus, elbow, wrist, pelvis, femur, tibia, fibula, metatarsals, clavicle, and mandible.

Thanks for helping Dr. Funnybone and his crew!!
