Journey To A Whole New World

Introduction: When you think about the world, what do you think about? Do you think of planet earth where the human population lives? Or do you expand your mind beyond that and think of our entire universe? Our universe consists of other planets, moons, stars, asteroids, and many other interesting things that can be explored. You just found out that you are going on a field trip to outer space but there are a few things you have to learn before you go. It is important to know where you are going when you are there and what you should bring with you.

The Challenge: Use the Internet to figure out the geographical set up of the universe so you do not get lost when you are there. Also figure out some of the challenges you may face so you can prepare for them before you go. Here are some questions you should ask yourself before you go:

1) How far is each planet from the sun?

2) What is the order of the planets?

3) How many moons does each planet have?

4) Why do astronauts wear space suits?

5) What would happen if you came across a Black Hole in your travels?

6) How should you prepare for the temperatures on each planet?

Report: Once you have gathered your information begin writing in your journal that you are going to take with you on the trip. Talk about what you are going to take with you, what the best order would be best to visit the in, and what you hope to see. Also talk about the challenges you may have to face and how you are going to deal that.

Here are some Links that send you to websites that will help you answer these questions while preparing for your trip.
