What’s the Difference?

PROBLEM: Your classroom has a choice for the class pet; you can either have a frog or a toad. It is up to you to do research on both animals, compare the two, and make the final decision as to which one would make the best classroom pet.

 

 

 

child reading clip artCHALLENGE: Your job is to do research on the differences in frogs and toads. You will do this by clicking on the links below and finding information that will help you to make an informed decision as to which animal will make a better classroom pet.

 

 

 

RESEARCH: Find answers to the following questions and using that information, make your informed decision.

** If you want to print the last page of this site, you will have the questions written down for you on a piece of lined paper

 

  1. Find the difference between a reptile and an amphibian. Write down at least 3 differences. **HINT Look at the shapes, colors, skin texture, and feet.
  2. Using these definitions, decide which category a frog falls in as well as which category a toad is in. **HINT They are not both in the same category.
  3. What is the habitat that a frog lives in and what is the habitat of a toad? Include the temperature, the amount of water needed, and type of food that is eaten.
  4. Describe a place close to you that you would be able to find either a frog or a toad.
  5. Once all of the above is complete, write a paragraph (be sure to use proper paragraph format) explaining which animal would be best for a classroom pet.
