1.  Your Challenge

A. Introduction

In the mail, you and your classmates received a letter.  It reads,

 Dear Mrs. Milliken’s class,

Have you ever wanted to visit the Grand Canyon?  Well now is your chance.  I am from the state of Arizona’s Tourism Center.  I am writing to your class for some help.  The problem is that the number of tourist to visit the Grand Canyon in the last year has plummeted.  People don’t seem interested in the great site anymore.  I understand that your class is studying rocks.  Now that you know so many interesting facts about rocks, I need you to help me get other people interested.  I am asking everyone in your class to make a brochure about the Grand Canyon.  These brochures should give lots of information about the Grand Canyon in a way that will make people want to visit Arizona.  The brochure will be sent to Tourism Centers all over the world to help bring in more tourists.  After I have received the brochures I will pick a winner and that person will get a free trip to the Grand Canyon!  Thank you in advance for your help.

                                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                                    Joe Rocky

                                                                                    Head of Tourism, Arizona

B. The Challenge

Do research on the internet to find out how the Grand Canyon was formed, what it is made of, and things you might see or do there.  Then make a brochure with all the information on it to entice tourists from around the world.
