The lost city of Pompeii
A
Webquest for third graders

Introduction:
Hello third graders, and welcome to The
lost city of Pompeii Webquest! You are an architect for a company that
has recently discovered the location of the lost city of Pompeii! But in order to get recognition as the
best architect in the company, you have to write an eye-catching article
describing what the AD 79 eruption of Mt. Vesuvius and what the city of Pompeii looks like now that it's been uncovered!
Your mission:
Search these websites to find
descriptions and pictures about the AD 79 eruption of Mt. Vesuvius that caused the disappearance of the
city of Pompeii. You should get at least one picture
from the internet, and some general information such as who, what, when, where,
how and why the event happened the way it did. What kind of volcano is Mt. Vesuvius? What kinds of artifacts did you find
when excavating Pompeii? Did Mt. Vesuvius have a nickname? Did the citizens of Pompeii know Mt. Vesuvius was going to erupt that day? After you
get this information, write up a short article about your findings. To complete
your research, check out these websites:
