Welcome to the

Dino-kingdom

Topic: Dinosaurs!

Grade: 1st

Introduction:  When Dinosaurs once roamed the earth they relied on many different sources for food.  Most dinosaurs were plant eaters, also called herbivores.  Some dinosaurs were meat-eaters, also called carnivores. You have been selected to become a Dino-detective.  You will gather lots of information about dinosaurs from searching different websites on the Internet. When you do your research on the Internet, pay special attention to particular physical characteristics such as size and shape of teeth that might give clues to what type of food that dinosaur ate.

The Challenge: With a partner you will brainstorm 6 dino meals for the dinosaurs listed below.  When you have finished brainstorming you may create a poster categorizing the meals that an Herbivore would eat, and the meals that a carnivore would eat.

Click on the dinosaur names and figure out what kind of food they would eat:

Ø  Triceratops

Ø  T-Rex

Ø  Brachiosaurus

Ø  Stegosaurus

Ø  Diplodocus

Ø  Allosaurus

What are some physical features that might give our dino-detectives clues on what these dinosaurs eat?
