White-Tailed Deer
By Christian Stevens
Introduction
Vermont has many different types of animals and habitats.  Think of some animals that you see everyday.  Often on your way to school you might see a cow, horse, dog or cat.  These animals are tame and live around and with people most often.  This website is designed for you to research wild animals such as the deer in the picture above and the Blue Jay in the picture below. This site will also help you in finding what kinds of habitats these animals live in.  What is a habitat?  A habitat is a place or environment where a plant or animal lives.  Let's go find who lives in our backyard!
Who might live in this habitat?     Who might live in this habitat?

I Challenge YOU

Have you ever walked or hiked in the forest? What types of trees were in the forest? What kinds of animals have you seen? What kinds of birds perched in a nearby tree or took flight as you got closer.  Did you take a look in a pond. lake or river? What kinds of fish did you see?  Your challenge is to pick three wild creatures that you might see when you take a hike in Vermont's great outdoors.  Your next task is to use the below websites to gather  three or more facts on each creature and the habitat that it  lives in.  Good luck and keep your eyes peeled on  your hike!
