FAQs about Find Funding

What is included in the SPIN database?

SPIN is comprehensive in its coverage and includes opportunities from federal and non-federal agencies, foundations, professional societies, associations and corporations.  It's updated daily and can be searched by various criteria (i.e., Keyword, Applicant Type, Sponsor...).

Other than SPIN and SMARTS, where else should I look for opportunities?

Go to our Funding Opportunities page from the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) homepage to find links to the following resources:

  • For Vermont focused projects, search the Vermont Directory of Foundations on-line.
  • Thoroughly investigate the federal agencies that provide funding assistance and for any good matches, sign up for their alerts via Grants.gov.
  • Look at award data from your own and other institutions and see where your colleagues are getting funded
  • Check the OSP's listing of Internal Grant Opportunities or check with your College Dean's office.

Are there other searchable databases for funding opportunities?
