Funding for Undergraduate Research

The Office of Undergraduate Research distributes several awards that fund students' projects and the spring is when most of the competitions occur. Once students establish themselves in research or creative environments, they are encouraged to apply for this financial support.

Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP)

Due in early May, UROP is a $300 scholarship to help Honors College students pay for their college-approved thesis research. The Spring and Summer 2012 recipients:

Undergraduate Research Endeavors Competitive Awards! (URECA!)

Due early March, URECA! provides prestigious, competitive awards to outstanding undergraduates who wish to pursue a specific research project. $3000 for research costs plus $1000 student prize. The 2012 URECA! Recipients:

Summer Internship Grant

Due late March/early April, Summer Internship Grants provide students wages of up to $3500 in addition to upwards of $1500 for supplies and operating expenses to pursue research like it's your summer job! The 2012 Summer Internship Grant recipients:

Public Research & Civic Endeavors (PR&CE)

Due early April, PR&CE is a newer scholarship that targets students pursuing community-based, civic-minded research initiatives that may come in the form of an unpaid internship up to $4000. The 2012 PR&CE recipients:
