Pallett Art

Mark Dabelstein has been creating artwork and furniture with salvaged materials since 1998. Schooled in lost art forms of silver print photography and printmaking, Mark decided to pursue woodworking. While living in Santa Fe, New Mexico and working for cowboy furniture maker L.D. Burke III and folk artist Ed Larson, Mark was walking home from work and noticed a lone shipping pallet behind a business. Having a hard time resisting "free stuff," he brought it home and soon started constructing picture frames and small tables with a hammer, drill and circular saw. Recycling pallets was one thing, but he wanted to take his craft to the next level. He started to use organic paints, thinking of the safety of himself, customers and the world. Having found his passion, Mark soon quit his jobs to pursue his calling. Making various crafts and furniture, he set out to sell his wares at the famous Santa Fe fleamarket. Soon after, Mark was participating in craft shows from Phoenix to Chicago and everywhere inbetween. Not having too many outlets in New Mexico to sell his craft, Mark teamed up with Joe "Buffalo" Nickels and co-created Recycle Santa Fe...a Festival of Recycling. Now an annual event, Recycle Santa Fe is one of the countries premiere recycling craft shows.

Mark currently lives in Burlington, Vermont where he and his wife Sarah, have started a project together, Leo Cooper which is one of his greatest works yet.
