Welcome to the Graduate College at the University of Vermont!
We encourage you to explore the UVM web site for information about our graduate programs and graduate faculty members, who are world-class scholars dedicated to graduate education. Please surf our web sites and become acquainted with these fine scholars and the excellent research centers and institutes with which they are associated, as well as our libraries, exercise and sports facilities, and more.
Please note that all applicants for graduate study at The University of Vermont are required to submit their applications online. Paper applications are no longer accepted except in extenuating circumstances. Please contact the Graduate College prior to submitting a paper application at the address below in such situations. This change has been made to allow for more timely processing of applications and to better serve our applicants.

Each of the individual graduate programs has contact information, and in response to a call or e-mail message request, the contact person will provide you with catalogs and program information. If you are having trouble deciding among the programs, contact us for further assistance.
Many of the graduate programs support students through graduate teaching assistantships and grant-supported research assistantships. The graduate program coordinators of the individual programs can provide you with more specific information. For general information on financial support, see Funding Your Graduate Education.
The departments of the College of Arts and Sciences are dedicated to excellence in teaching as well to excellence in scholarship. In collaboration with the UVM Teaching and Learning Center, the College provides teaching orientation and training for new graduate students and individual advisors serve as teaching mentors for Graduate Teaching Assistants. You will find that each department has a special support structure for graduate students who teach.
We encourage our graduate students to present their scholarship at national and international meetings. Matching funds for travel and the Suiter Prize, a special series of travel awards, support graduate student travel.
Please contact Residential Life about off-campus UVM housing. Many students live off campus since the campus is located within the City of Burlington, and there is good mass transit to the campus.
Campus Safety Reports
The Public and Fire Safety Reports provide information on campus safety and fire safety policies, practices and programs, as well as information on crime and fire statistics. Copies of each report are available upon request.
