University Scholars

The University Scholars program recognizes distinguished UVM faculty members for sustained excellence in research and scholarly activities. Any full-time tenure track, extension, library, or research UVM faculty member at the level of assistant professor or above, including Emeriti faculty, may nominate or renominate any other such member of the faculty for a University Scholar Award. Graduate Teaching Fellow
of the Year Award

Graduate Teaching Fellows (GTFs) contribute significantly to UVM's teaching mission, carrying important and often complex teaching responsibilities. They merit recognition for their dedication and for the important contributions they make to the teaching of undergraduates at UVM. The Graduate Teaching Fellow of the Year Award recognizes annually the accomplishments of GTFs who have demonstrated unusual excellence and creativity in their teaching and commitment to student learning. Mini-Grant Awards

A mini-grant is a Graduate College–funded grant to aid graduate student participation in academic conferences. The expectation is that the mini-grant funds will be used to reimburse you for travel or hotel fees, or conference fees. The maximum amount is $200; awarded amounts vary based on the total funding available. There are application due dates in October, February, and April. Find out more

Roberto Fabri Fialho Scholarship

A scholarship of $1,500 is awarded annually in memory of Roberto Fabri Fialho, Ph.D., Biology (2001) to a student in the final year of her or his Ph.D. dissertation research in the life sciences. Roberto Fabri Fialho completed his Ph.D. just weeks before his untimely death in 1999, following an extended struggle with cancer. Despite his illness, Rob was an active member of the Biology Department, a creative and brilliant scholar and scientist, an admired teacher of UVM undergraduates, and a much loved friend to many.
