What: A FREE writing workshop for boys in grades 7-12 in Vermont.

Vermont Young Playwrights Project

Now in its 17th year, the Vermont Stage Young Playwright's Project is Vermont Stage Company's education outreach program. Created by playwright Dana Yeaton in 1995, the goal of VSYPP is to introduce middle and high school students to the art of playwriting through a series of in-school residencies with professional playwrights.

Upwords Poetry

A resource for young poets, writers and teachers from around Connecticut, the Northeast,the US, the world. Our goal is to promote literacy and the power of written and spoken word. Upwords posts information about Brave New Voices /The International Youth Poetry Slam & Festival and publishes youth poetry, posts links to writing contests and youth-friendly publishing opportunities, creative writing & publishing tips, writing ideas to help ignite creativity, and a calendar of youth-friendly literary events, primarily in the Northeast.

Poetry Out Loud

Recitation and performance are major new trends in poetry. There has been a recent resurgence of poetry as an oral art form, as seen in the slam poetry movement and the immense popularity of hip-hop music. Poetry Out Loud builds on that momentum by inviting the dynamic aspects of slam poetry, spoken word, and theater into the English class.
