LDAP RHEL4 Upgrade Checklist

1. DNS: set ns.uvm.edu to be mink.uvm.edu
2. LVS: set weight of porcupine to 0
3. BB: disable wolverine for 10 minutes
4. BB: disable porcupine for 3 hours
5. shutdown ldap on wolverine
6. shutdown ldap on porcupine
7. slapcat database on wolverine
8. start ldap on wolverine
9. take systemimage of porcupine
10. LOAD RHEL4U1 (follow steps from mink, see blog)
    • /etc/sysconfig/rhn/systemid from fishercat before update -u
11. load systemimager (http://www.systemimager.org/download)
12. add home directories and local data from fishercat
    • /home
    • /usr/local/bin
    • /usr/local/tsg
    • /etc/krb5.keytab
    • local account entries from /etc/passwd, /etc/group, /etc/sudoers
    • /etc/ssh system key info
13. take RHEL4 system image
14. test test test...
15. LVS: set weight of porcupine to 3
16. LVS: set weight of fishercat to 0
17. LVS: pushkeep
18. BB: enable porcupine
19. BB: disable wolverine for 10 minutes
20. BB: disable fishercat for 3 hours
21. shutdown ldap on wolverine
22. shutdown ldap on fishercat
23. slapcat database on wolverine
24. start ldap on wolverine
25. install system image on fishercat
    • Install RHEL4u1
    • install systemimager
    • updateclient
    • reboot
26. install ldap database on fishercat
27. test test test...
28. LVS: set weight of fishercat to 3
29. LVS: set weight of peregrine to 0
30. LVS: pushkeep
31. BB: enable fishercat
32. BB: disable wolverine for 10 minutes
33. BB: disable peregrine for 3 hours
34. shutdown ldap on wolverine
35. shutdown ldap on peregrine
36. slapcat database on wolverine
37. start ldap on wolverine
38. install system image on peregrine
    • Install RHEL4u1
    • install systemimager
    • updateclient
    • reboot
39. install ldap database on peregrine
40. test test test...
41. LVS: set weight of peregrine to 3
42. LVS: pushkeep
43. DNS: set ns.uvm.edu to RR of porcupine/fishercat/peregrine
44. BB: enable peregrine
45. announce completion
