Introduction to Laboratory Safety (Scenario Training)
For New Employees
Emergency Response is what happens after something unusual
happens. Are you ready to respond to emergencies in your laboratory?
Social science research has shown that the answer to this question
depends to a large extent on whether you've thought through
likely scenarios already (eve if these aren't the exact situation
that occurs). This training addresses this concern using
some of the most common laboratory hazards found at UVM.
The Scenario Training is designed for all UVM laboratory workers
and includes Chemical Safety, Emergency Response
and Bloodborne Pathogens issues. You should take the online
courses covering chemical safety, chemical waste and
bloodborne pathogens before attending the session so that
you will be familiar with the terminology used.
The Laboratory Safety classroom trainings schedule can be found on
our registration page at http://www.uvm.edu/~esf/databases/class_signup
For Departments
We are also able to tailor more advanced versions of this
training to your laboratory group or department, which is often the
most effective way to learn. Contact us at esf@uvm.edu
to set up a department-specific training or with any other training
questions.
