Requirements for a Major/Minor in Environmental Sciences

Major Requirements:

Core Courses:
Biology 1, 2, or Biology 11,12
Chemistry 31, 32 (or 35-38)
Math 19, 20 (or 21)
Chemistry 42*, 141, or 143
* not allowed for either the Chemistry or Biology concentration

Introduction to Environmental Studies
ENVS 1 or 2

Technology: One of the following in second year:
Stat 141 or 211 Statistics
Chemistry 121 Quantitative Analysis
Chemistry 221 Instrumental Analysis
Biology 205 Advanced Genetics Lab
Biology 267 Molecular Endocrinology
Geology 255 Geohydrology
Civil Engineering 150 Environmental Engineering

Concentrations
-- With advisor (or co-advisors if appropriate) choose 3 advanced courses (1 with advanced lab if not taken above and 1 at the 200 level) for a generalist approach or concentration.
-- 1 semester (minimum) senior project or Honors Research.

Total of 122 hours



Minor

Chemistry Emphasis
Chemistry 31,32. Chem 121 or 42, and 2 additional upper division non-chemistry courses.

Biology Emphasis
Biology 1,2, 102, and 2 additional upper division non-biology courses.

Geology Emphasis
Geology 55, 101, 155 and 2 additional upper division non geology courses.
