Forest Value Groups provide a relative ranking to compare the value for timber production of STATSGO map untis.A value of 1 has the highest potential for growing and harvesting timber production and a value of 6 has the lowest.
The purpose of the septic value group is to compare the STATSGO map units for community development usingsuitability for onsite sewerage disposal as a guide. There are many other considerations for community development thatare not part of this ranking. The scale is 1 to 10, with 1 being the best for support of a conventional inground septicsystem and 10 assigned where most map unit components are unsuited for a septic system.
