Beauty Editing With
For my Editing and
Publishing project I spoke
with Jessica Saslow, the
Associate Beauty Editor at Marie Claire. We spoke of Jessica's day to day
activities, magazine layout, the beauty department, and the assignment of
articles in each month's issue.
I looked extensivly at the layout and color concepts that Marie Claire
uses in each month's issue. I also looked at Marie Claire's competitors,
Mademoiselle, Cosmpolitan, Vogue, Elle, and Allure. Each one of these
magazines falls into a niche, with Marie Claire falling into a
sophisticated, reality based realm.
Talking with Jessica Saslow showed me just how wonderful and exciting
a job in magazine editing can be. Jessica's job is never the same, each
day she is doing something new and different.
