The Burlington Eco Info Project's public outreach plan is to engage the community through surveys, presentations and discussions, attendance at local events and through our interactive website. Ongoing feedback can be submitted through the website. In order to make our website accessible to those without a home computer, the site is available at existing computer labs like the Fletcher Free Library, local colleges, Old North End Tech Center, etc. We are also developing a program to install computer kiosks in community sites such as the Community Health Center or the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The Burlington Eco Info Project has already conversed with folks at the Rock Point School, the Department of Public Works, CEDO's AmeriCorps*VISTA Team Meeting, the Neighborhood Action Project, the Intervale Festival, Earth Day 2000, a Youth Environmental Summit in Battery Park, and various other community meetings and events. We are excited by upcoming visits with schools, City Commissions and Departments, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies and Associations, church and civic groups, youth organizations and businesses.

COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD

The second phase of this process is the convening of a Community Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB began meeting in January 2001. Their role is to recommend a program that will monitor the health of Burlington’s ecosystem, based on community priorities and gaps in existing information.
