Is using a woodstove better for the environment?

Woodstoves annually produce twice as much nitrogen oxide as any other residential heating sources, four times as much volatile organic compounds, 120 times as much carbon monoxide, and 150 times as much particulate matter. In fact, woodstoves may account for more Vermont air pollution statewide than manufacturing industries.
