Erik Homstead

Erik Homstead is a senior in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources.  He is  majoring in Resource Ecology and minoring in mathematics.  Erik plans to graduate in  May 2006.

Born and raised in Easthampton, MA, Erik grew up on the Connecticut River and Mount Tom is literally in his backyard.  He loves canoeing, hiking, and camping.  His love of the outdoors sparked his interest in the environment.

Erik's greatest passion is pottery.  He has been doing pottery for at least five years. His work is  primarily thrown and finished with an intricate geometric pattern that is stamped on the piece with a  simple wooden tool.  For the past three years, he has been living in the pottery program in the Living  Learning Center on campus.  Erik has recently started a part time business with his pottery called Homstead Pottery.

Next year, Erik plans to stay in Burlington so he can be close to his girlfriend, Alyssa.  She is currently a junior at UVM, majoring in Wildlife Biology.  She is also a member of the pottery studio.  Erik, Alyssa, and their friend Orin will be living in an apartment downtown.  Erik will also be working at Rocky Dale  Gardens in Bristol VT.
