The University of Vermont and the Division of Student and Campus Life care
deeply about each and every UVM student. We are invested in their success and
in their health and safety. Collectively, our goal is to ensure that all members
of our community - including students, faculty and staff - feel free to pursue
personal and academic enrichment in a healthy environment that promotes and
supports learning.
As a division, we are strongly committed to creating a community that allows
our students to live and learn freely, openly and safely. We encourage students
to question conventions, entertain new ideas, and explore new opportunities
and experiences.
However, this new found freedom cannot be at the expense of individual or community
harm. Like many other colleges, The University of Vermont is dedicated to reducing
the prevalence and impact of high-risk substance use. We remain intolerant of
behavior that has negative impacts for both the community and individuals. Through
a basis of mutual respect and a proactive, educational approach, we will hold
individuals accountable for their actions and work with those who wish to change
their behavior.
All of us at UVM share the responsibility for the success of this vision, and
are equally accountable, as members of this community, to make the decisions
that create a strong vibrant community of learners.
