The Education Leadership Program at UVM is a full Master's program that may lead to VT State Administrative Licensure. Most of our students are employed full-time, and our program is designed with them in mind. Most of our fall and spring semester courses take place on campus between 4 and 7pm, and we offer one or two week courses during the summer months, when public schools are not in session. Most students complete the full 33-36 credit program in two to four years, including an action research project and an internship (usually within their place of employment).
Participants learn to:
understand alternative perspectives on leadership that support the development of more just, humane, and diverse organizations.
construct effective ways to demonstrate caring and collaborative leadership.
create networks which support leadership and change.
While the program is designed within the broad concept of
leadership, three major strands of concentration are available.
The areas of concentration are:
STRAND I: School Leader with Administrative Endorsement
Educational AdministrationCurriculum Leadership
STRAND II: Organizational/Community Leadership
Leadership in Private or Nonprofit Educational Organizations
Teacher Leadership
STRAND III: Human Services Leadership
Collaboration across communities, human service agencies, and schools
Using evaluation for enhancing program outcomes
