Davis Center NACAS Award

Davis Center Receives NACAS Innovative Achievement Award

Davis CenterThe Davis Center was recently recognized by the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) at its 41st Annual Conference. The Davis Center received the Innovative Achievement in Auxiliary Services Award for being the first student center in the country to receive LEED Gold recognition and bringing students, faculty, and staff together in a way never before experienced at UVM.

Historically, this award is given for a particular innovative practice, process, or service.  Allen Josey, Director of Davis Center Operations and Event Services, said, “The Davis Center is very proud to have won this award in recognition of a wide collection of efforts being made both actively and passively to educate our campus community and our guests around issues of sustainability and to show how we can not only add value by way of knowledge around the issues but also to be fiscally savvy as well.”  Josey continued, “Now that the building is built, the onus shifts to those of us who manage and work in the building to engage our community in a variety of ways to demonstrate and promote the value of being good environmental stewards. Through the collective efforts of the Davis Center Operations staff, Student Life, Sodexo, and the Davis Center Custodial and Physical Plant staff, we have truly raised the bar for what it means to be a ‘green’ student center.”
