Parliamentary debating is the most popular format in the world. It emphasizes speaking skills, audience adaptation and clear analysis of major issues. Most often the topics are not announced, but given to the teams 20-30 minutes before the debate. While evidence is used, block quotations are never read. Parliamerntary preparation after the topic/motion has been announced usually takes place without access to support material. The debaters need to use what they already know.
