Old School Freight Train is a young bluegrass band from Charlottesville, Virginia making waves in the acoustic music world. Their music blends jazz, Latin, Celtic, and other influences to create a sound that while grounded in the bluegrass world, goes way beyond into the innovative genre that fans and critics are calling Newgrass.
Prize winners at the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass and Rockygrass Festivals, OSFT was invited to record at David Grisman's Dawg Studios after Grisman heard their music in the fall of 2004 and viewed the band as "an emerging force to reckon with in today's world of acoustic music." Audiences love them for their instrumental virtuosity, smooth soulful vocals, captivating melodies and musical passion.
