The Office of Patient Oriented Research promotes and supports investigation along the full spectrum from patient to population health research conducted by FAHC/UVM and other investigators that bears directly on improving the health and health care of the people of Vermont, Northern New England, and Northern New York State.

The Office works at two interconnected levels to promote and support patient to population health research by UVM/FAHC and other investigators:
1) POR Pilot Awards
2) Research Development Awards
Whenever feasible, office staff will advise and refer investigators at any point in the research project development process. Note that there are limited funds available to assist with planning and design issues, especially related to biostatistical consultations. Please inquire of Ellen Dimick at 7-8844.
The Office offers two types of research award, each designed to support patient oriented research at UVM/FAHC.
Investigators may contact Ellen Dimick (7-8844) for any one of these. They may also wish to contact the Vermont Cancer Center about its pilot project award program or the Office of Sponsored Programs about UVM's College of Medicine's new research initiative (NRI) and interim research support (IRS) programs.
