Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing
(RN to B.S.) Program

The University of Vermont's RN to B.S. program enhances knowledge and skills in evidence-based practice; population and community-based healthcare; and healthcare policy, finance, and leadership - offering registered nurses access to the University of Vermont's Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

Program Features

UVM's RN to B.S. Program offers:

  • Credit for previous nursing education and licensure, and non-nursing courses from other colleges
  • Online courses designed for working adults
  • Special tuition rates through agreements with hospitals and other employers
  • Tailored academic advising
  • Clinical experiences in a student's local area


Nine of the ten required program courses are offered online. The program also includes a five-day intensive summer course, which takes place in the Clinical Simulation Lab on the University of Vermont campus.

Admission Requirements

In addition to meeting UVM's general admission criteria, must have current RN license (or be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN) and a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Enrollment and continuation in the program is contingent upon successful completion of the NCLEX-RN. The RN license must be kept active while enrolled in the RN to B.S. program.
