Post–Master's Certificate Program

The Post-Master's Certificate program is designed for registered nurses holding a Master of Science degree in nursing. Upon successful completion of the program requirements students are eligible to sit for national certification.

Applying

The deadline for the last cohort of the Post-Master's Certificate Program is June 15, 2014.

Application for admission to the certificate program requires submission of the following:

  • Completed application form (PDF)
  • Official graduate transcript
  • Copy of current APRN/RN license or evidence of eligibility for RN license in Vermont
  • Copy of APRN certification (if appropriate)
  • Current resume/CV
  • $50 non-refundable application fee made payable to the Department of Nursing

Post-Master's Primary Care Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) Certificate Program

  • GRNS 313* - Pathophysiology - 3 credits
  • GRNS 404* - Advanced Pharmacology APRN - 3 credits
  • GRNS 405 *- Advanced Neuropharmacology APRN- 3 credits
  • GRNS 406 - Advanced Health Assessment APRN - 3 credits
  • GRNS 407 - Optimizing Health - 2 credits
  • GRNS 408 - Practicum: Optimizing Health - 1 credit (120 clinical hours)
  • GRNS 412 – Adv Practice Nursing Older Adults – 3 credits
  • GRNS 413 – Practicum: Nursing Older Adults - 0.5 credits (60 clinical hours)
  • GRNS 414 - Primary Care Management Acute and Common Conditions - 3 credits
  • GRNS 415 - Practicum: Acute and Common Conditions (AGNP) – 1.5 credits (180 clinical hours)
  • GRNS 417 - Primary Care Management Health Care of Women - 2.25 credits
  • GRNS 418 - Practicum: Health Care of Women - 0.75 credits (90 clinical hours)
  • GRNS 419 - Primary Care Management Chronic and Complex Conditions - 3 credits
  • GRNS 420 - Practicum: Chronic and Complex Conditions (AGNP)- 2.5 credits (300 clinical hours)

*If pathophysiology and pharmacology were taken more than 5 years ago, student must repeat or pass a challenge exam.

Total: 31.5 credits  750 clinical hours
