Adult Nurse Practitioner
Advanced pathophysiology, advanced health assessment, and advanced pharmacotherapy provide a basis for clinical decision making with a focus on diagnosing, managing, and collaborating to help patients maintain and optimize their health. Additional coursework will provide the knowledge and skills to emphasize health promotion and prevention of disease in addition to helping patients manage acute and chronic health conditions. Partnering with patients to achieve their health goals using evidence based interventions is emphasized throughout the program.
Working with standardized patients (actors) before beginning clinical rotations facilitates the transition to actual practice. Students will have the opportunity to practice in diverse settings, including rural areas and among underserved populations, in office, clinic, and tertiary practices throughout Vermont. Graduates will be eligible for either American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
