Microphilanthropy in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences

Microphilanthropy is a model of giving that engages recipients and donors at a very personal level. The College of Nursing and Health Sciences promotes this practice among student groups as a model of leadership that develops students' sense of social responsibility while increasing opportunities for international and multicultural experiential learning and research for their benefactors.

The 2013 American Speech-Language Hearing Association Convention Micro-fund

The American Speech-Language Hearing Association is a professional organization for speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language and hearing scientists designed to provide up-to-date, high quality research and education materials for the field. Annually, ASHA holds a convention that presents current findings for practicing ASHA members and students pursuing degrees in this field.

This year, undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Vermont are raising funds to support their trip to the 2013 ASHA Convention in Chicago, where UVM's own Dean Patricia Prelock will preside as President. Students will learn state of the art information regarding children and adults with communication disorders (autism, stuttering, traumatic brain injury, stroke, language impairment, hearing impairment, etc.), which they will share upon their return.
