Celebrate UVM Reunion & Homecoming Weekend

The University of Vermont campus hosts Homecoming Weekend October 5 - 7, 2012. Alumni, families, friends and students are invited to celebrate "Catamount Pride" through a range of events and activities. The College of Nursing and Health Sciences hosts several events Saturday, October 6:

Clinical Simulation Lab Experience

Oct. 6, 10 a.m. - Noon
Rowell Building

Contemporary health care requires competency-based instruction that often relies on simulated experiences to prepare learners for patient care. The Clinical Simulation Laboratory is a collaborative effort of the UVM College of Medicine, the UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and Fletcher Allen Health Care, and serves as a centralized hub in the training of health care professionals with the ultimate goal of improving quality and safety of care. Join us for an interactive tour of this state-of-the-art interprofessional education center and experience settingsthat reflect actual trauma, operating room, in-patient and ambulatory scenarios.

CNHS Open House & Tour

Oct. 6, 10:00 a.m. - Noon
Rowell Building

Note: Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders open house and tour will be in Pomeroy Hall.
Join members of the CNHS faculty and staff in tours of the Clinical Simulation Laboratory and Rehabilitation and Movement Science labs. Departments will highlight their research, describe opportunities for students in the classroom and in clinical settings, and demonstrate their labs and technology.

  • Medical Laboratory and Radiation Sciences: View some of the recent research conducted by current and former MLRS students in the Rowell Building, 3rd floor. In addition the department will highlight the opportunities which exist for our students in their Internships which take place at healthcare and public health institutions throughout New York and New England.
  • Department of Nursing: Tour the Clinical Simulation Laboratory, enjoy light refreshments, view the Nursing Archives and networking and socializing with current and retired faculty, students and families.
  • Communication Sciences and Disorders: Come experience our technology and learn about our latest research results.
  • Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences: Come meet the faculty and see what new and exciting research is happening in the fields of Athletic Training, Exercise Science and Physical Therapy. Tour the labs and see where our students get hands-on knowledge of clinical techniques.
