Dr. Jeanine Carr is a native Vermonter who was raised in the southern part of the state. She completed an Associate Degree in Nursing at Castleton State College and Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at Clemson University in Clemson, SC. Upon completion of a Ph.D. in Nursing Science at the University of South Carolina, she returned to her native state and has been at UVM for 19 years.
In addition to her faculty role, Dr. Carr chaired the Department of Nursing for three years and was the Undergraduate Program Coordinator for five years. She has taught at all levels of the undergraduate program and selected courses in the graduate program. She currently teaches the first nursing course that students take in the sophomore year and the issues and leadership course that students take in the final semester of their program. She is actively involved in academic advising for undergraduate students and project and thesis advising for graduate students. Dr. Carr has been a member of the Vermont State Board of Nursing since 2007 and currently chairs the Board.
Her areas of interest and expertise are qualitative research methods, leadership, ethics, nursing theory, and nursing regulation.
