Dr. Marcia Bosek joined the Department of Nursing at the University of Vermont full-time in the fall of 2009 and was awarded tenure in 2012. Before moving to Vermont, she was an associate professor at Rush University where she taught nursing and ethics to undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to her academic role, she was also a member of the Rush University Medical Center's ethics consultation service for 17 years.
Dr. Bosek (2007) co-authored a nursing ethics textbook titled The ethical component of nursing education: Integrating ethics into clinical experiences. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and America Society for Bioethics and Humanities. In 2014, Dr. Bosek was appointed as a member of the American Nurses Association’s Ethics and Human Rights Advisory Committee. Her program of research focuses on how healthcare professionals make clinical ethical decisions. In 2013, she joined other nursing faculty to begin studying learning outcomes and ethical issues related to simulation learning.

Key Scholarly Interests:
Dr. Bosek's program of research has three foci: ethical decision-making, qualitative methods and simulation learning. Current research projects include: Confidentiality of Information During Simulation; Impact of Video IPAD Technology on Nursing Student Wound Care Skill Acquisition.
