Dr. Marcia Bosek joined the Department of Nursing at the University of Vermont full-time in the fall of 2009 after holding a joint appointment for two and a half years between University of Vermont and Fletcher Allen Health Care, where she served as a clinical ethicist. Before moving to Vermont, she was an associate professor at Rush University where she taught nursing and ethics to undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to her academic role, she was also a member of the Rush University Medical Center's ethics consultation service for 17 years.

Dr. Bosek (2007) co-authored a nursing ethics textbook titled The ethical component of nursing education: Integrating ethics into clinical experiences. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and America Society for Bioethics and Humanities. Currently, Dr. Bosek is a member of American Nurses Association's Revision Panel-Advisory Committee for The Code of Ethics for Nurses. Her program of research focuses on how healthcare professionals make clinical ethical decisions. In 2013, she joined other nursing faculty to begin studying learning outcomes and ethical issues related to simulation learning.

Research Interests

Dr. Bosek's program of research has three foci: ethical decision-making, qualitative methods and simulation learning.

  • Impact of Video IPAD Technology on Nursing Student Wound Care Skill Acquisition
