Center for Health and Wellbeing About CHWB

Philosophy of Care

The staff of the Center for Health and Wellbeing believes that all relationships should be based on democratic values and respect for the inherent dignity and worth of the individual. Our belief in non-judgmental and collaborative client/patient-centered care is based on an underlying respect for the uniqueness of the individual.

We believe that people have the right to accessible, cost-effective, high-quality health care including diagnosis, treatment, education, counseling, advocacy, and coordination of services. We recognize our responsibility to provide individualized assessments, working collaboratively, taking into consideration the economic, cultural, ethnic and spiritual backgrounds of clients, their developmental level, personal values and interpersonal support systems. We understand our responsibility to make appropriate referrals with the goal of meeting client needs. Our goal is to assist our clients in functioning at the highest level of independence that the client is capable of.

We understand our responsibility to the campus community regarding public health issues.

We show our commitment to our professions through ongoing education, collegial relationships, peer review, and acceptance of accountability in our practices.
