Jackson, WY - Teton Science School - Bird Banding

In the summer of 2008 I headed to Jackson Hole, WY to band birds with the Tetons as my backdrop. I was employed through the Conservation Research Center of the Teton Science School as an Avian Technician. My primary duties were banding birds, however, being a part of a science school, I also did banding demonstrations and educated groups of all ages about avian conservation. Aspects of this position were very rewarding for me. I was able to bring together and utilize my skills in education and banding that I had gained in prior positions.

Along with regular banding, other aspects of this position included color banding, resighting, and nest searching. I had never done any nest searching before, so it was nice to gain a new skill.

During my time in Jackson I was also able to take some side trips and explore the area:
