Graduate student Mohammed H. Al-Kateb receives fellowship to database program

Mohammed H. Al-Kateb, graduate student in computer science in the UVM College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS), has been granted a fellowship to attend the 8th EDBT Summer School on "Database Technologies for Novel Applications." The program takes place September 3-7, 2007, in Bozen-Bolzano, Italy. The fellowship includes full financial support, including registration fee, accommodations and all meals.
The EDBT Summer School brings together leading researchers of the database community and provides participants the opportunity to gain deep insight into current research trends in the database area. This year's summer school presents tutorials in four areas: statistical database techniques and stream data management; database tuning and performance; information retrieval techniques, text and multimedia databases; and biological data management.
