Public Transportation & Shuttle Service

Our Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA) offers safe, convenient and affordabe transportation with bus service to the Chittenden county region. In addition to the local transit routes, CCTA now has three LINK Express routes, the Montpelier LINK Express, Middlebury LINK Express and St. Albans LINK Express.

All CCTA buses are equipped with easy-to-use bike racks. There's no extra charge for your bike, however you do need to load and unload your own bike.

CATMA Transit Subsidies

For those of you who can take advantage of Chittenden County’s great bus service, the American Red Cross and Fletcher Allen Health Care offer significant subsidies on both monthly and 10-ride bus passes to make it even more rewarding to take the bus. Fletcher Allen employees can purchase bus passes at the FAHC Security Office, MCHV Campus. Red Cross employees, please contact the CATMA RidesWork Office at 656-RIDE to make arrangements to purchase discounted passes.

Champlain College and UVM Rides FREE

All Champlain College and University of Vermont faculty, staff and students with a valid ID, ride any CCTA bus anytime, anywhere, including the LINK Express for FREE. Just show the bus driver your ID then swipe it through the fare box card reader. If you need to take more than one bus to get to your destination, be sure to ask the driver for a transfer before you leave the bus.

In our continued efforts to provide alternatives to driving and to reduce the number of vehicles traveling on city streets, we want to remind you to take the College Street Shuttle, Burlington’s FREE public transportation loop that runs from Union Station on the Waterfront to the Fletcher Allen Health Care - MCHV campus. The next time you're traveling from downtown to the Hill or vice versa, consider taking the College Street Shuttle instead of your car.

CATMA institution employees and students can further help to reduce parking costs and traffic congestion by parking at the General Dynamics/Gilbane PARC satellite lot on Lakeside Ave. or the new interecept lot at 1193 North Ave. The CATMA Express and the CCTA PARC shuttles serve the General Dynamics/Gilbane PARC lot and CCTA's North Ave, route runs right by the 1193 North Ave. lot. For more information about these off-site parking options and incentives tied to these locations, click here.

All CATMA institution employees who are riding the bus at least twice a week, qualify for CATMA's Emergency Ride Home program for a FREE taxi cab ride home in an emergency. Just register with CATMA using the ERH link and we'll issue you a Commute Smart Card. Additionally, your name will be entered into the monthly drawing for a chance to win a restaurant gift certificate. For more information about CATMA's Emergency Ride Home program, click here.
