My Info

Hey, I am  Brittany Philbin.  I am currently a senior at the University of Vermont in the College of Arts and Sciences.  I am majoring in Biology with a chemistry minor.  I was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 30, 1983 and moved to St. George, Vermont when I was 3.  For the past six years my family and I have traveled to Africa twice with a travel company called Overseas Adventure Travel.  Visiting Africa changes how you think about the world.  Our first trip brought us to four countries in Southern Africa including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana--home to the Okavango Swamp, the world's largest inland delta.  Our second trip took us further north to two East African countries--Tanzania and Kenya.  Africa is one of those continents that because it spans both tropics there are so many different environments to discover.  Traveling has become my greatest passion and discovering all the Africa has to offer is so exciting.  I plan to return to Africa within the next year to further my exploration of the various environments and ecological regions, as well as participating in some social activities.  I will forever be changed by the people I met and the experiences of the African continent.

Bunji Jumping at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe over the Zambezi River
When visiting the mighty Zambezi River at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe the best adrenaline rush is to jump
off the Victoria Falls Bridge connecting Zimbabwe and Zambia.  In July of 2000 my family and I traveled
to Southern Africa in search of adventure.  But I was the only one to actually leap off the bridge 111 meters
to get a different persective of Victoria Falls.
