Welcome to the 2005 Vermont Field Studies Class webpage!

2005's Vermont Field Studies class has chosen to represent the choices we make as Vermonters in managing our house, located in our very own “Eco-Hood”. As you tour our house, you can make decisions about different lifestyles or choices, and see what the differences are, both in market price (what you pay in dollars) and in real cost (which incorporates the effects of human choices on natural, social, and human capital).

Since prices rarely reflect full costs, decisions based solely on price often lead to unsustainable long-term decisions. By collaborating to educate consumers about their choices and improve market mechanisms, ecologists, economists, and other social and natural scientists can play an important role in a transition to a more sustainable society.

While we can't promise that exploring our website will be as much fun as our field studies trips, we hope you'll enjoy!

Come visit our Eco-hood!
