Attendance speech, 15 seconds or less, First Name, Last Name, tell us your favorite food. 

Please put away all electronic devices (lap tops, cell phones, Blackberrys, I-Pods, etc.), take out pen and paper to take notes.

ANNOUNCEMENTS & REMINDERS:

Tips from TAs:

  1. Work on Powerful Endings
  2. Restate must knows should be specific things the audience should remember, not "categorical topics" you covered.  To say "Today I talked about pie ingredients, how to bake, and how to serve" is NOT a restate of must knows.  To say "remember use only Granny Smith apples, bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees F, and serve with brown sugar on top" IS a restate.
  3. Work on creative hooks.
  4. Remember to repeat any questions asked of you at the end.
  5. Make sure your have a clear PREVIEW and during your presentation transition clearly between the sections of your preview.
  6. Remember to dress appropriately (no jeans that are faded or with holes).

Assignments & Announcements:

  1. Practice your Group Critical Analysis Presentations.
  2. Bring your Flash Memory stick (2+ Gigs, with 500 MB free) and bring to lab if you are presenting your Informational Presentation.
  3. Check Syllabus speaking schedule for when you are reading/presenting and your lab role.
  4. Outside Speech Critique assignment due next week (Oct 18-22) in lab!  UVM lecture calendar site.
  5. Practice your Formal (lecture) Introduction.  These continue next week.  Names will be called at random.  If you are unexcused absent: zero.
