Philosophy of Education: EDSC 50,
Exploring Secondary Education (5/04)
This
paper is a about what I feel is important in educating high school
students. I used this as an opportunity to explain how I
feel there needs to be in interest and passion in educating students in
order to be successful, and how a teacher needs to keep an open mind to
learn from the students as well as teach them. This assignment
required me to figure out why I wanted to become a teacher and how I
can remember that once I am in the classroom.

Debating in the Classroom: EDSC 50,
Exploring
Secondary Education (5/04)
This was an outline of a presentation I
gave about how to use debating and discussion in a high school
classroom. What was nice about giving a presentation instead of
writing a paper about this subject is that it gave me on opportunity
to share what I learned with my fellow classmates and get them thinking
about using debating and discussion when they teach. In the
presentation I concentrated on different methods of debating and
discussion as well as the pros and cons of each method on the skills
used by the student. I leaned a great deal about how to make a
classroom more interactive for students by having an opportunity to
apply what they have learned through debating and discussing with their
fellow students. I hope to use these methods in my classroom in
the future.

Confucius
Analects: HST 50,
History of
China and Japan to 1900 (9/04)
This assignment was to write about
how Confucius would advise the 2004 presidential candidates on how they
should run the government. Confucius was a 5th century Chinese
man who spent his life trying to teach leaders on the most effective
ways to run their government. This is an example of my ability to
write a coherent historical essay using the information we learned in
this course.

Cathars,
Waldensians, Franciscans, and Dominicans: HST
195F,
Religious Movements in the Middle Ages (10/04)
This assignment was on comparing different
religious groups in medieval Europe. In this paper we were asked
to make an opinion on an issue and use the facts we learned in class to
backup that opinion. This paper is an example of my ability to
support an historical argument.
