"Babel" Producer Jon Kilik '78 Speaks Clearly on Film Production
Film producer and alumnus Jon Kilik '78 came to campus in late April to discuss his most recent production, Babel, nominated this year for an Academy Award in the "Best Picture" category.
Kilik was interviewed in front of an audience by Todd McGowan, associate professor and director of UVM's film and television studies program. A free viewing of the film preceded the discussion.
After graduating from UVM in 1978, Kilik established himself as one of the most sought-after independent-film producers in the country. He has received critical acclaim for his films, many of which have a strong social conscience. He has collaborated on a number of projects with Spike Lee and other major industry figures. Kilik's credits as a producer include Pollock, Dead Man Walking, Malcolm X, Mo' Better Blues and Do The Right Thing.
