Terms of Service

The University of Vermont ("the University") provides its Vtrim® weight management program (the "Program") and associated materials ("the Materials") for educational purposes in furtherance of its educational mission. The University does not provide medical advice or professional medical services to any participant in the program, and the information and recommendations provided in the Materials do not constitute medical advice.

I am aware that it is my sole responsibility to determine with my doctor that a weight loss program including a moderate calorie restriction and exercise program is advisable at this time. To the best of my knowledge, I am in good health and suffer no disability or condition that renders my participation in this course or other physical activity medically inadvisable or otherwise limits my ability to participate in a behavioral weight loss program without restriction. If female, I certify that I am not currently pregnant or breastfeeding a baby younger than 6 months old. I understand that even though the Program and Materials are based upon weight loss principles backed by scientific research, it cannot be guaranteed that I will lose weight if I participate in the Program.

The Materials may contain inaccuracies or typographical errors. The University makes no representations about the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of the Materials or about the results to be obtained from participating in the Program or using the Materials. Changes are periodically made to the Program and Materials and may be made at any time.

In consideration of my participation in the Program, I hereby voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation and agree to hold harmless the University, its agents, officers, and employees, including but not limited to the course instructors and Continuing Education staff, from any and all liability, claims, causes of action or demands of any kind and nature whatsoever which may arise by or in connection with my participation or my use of the Materials, except in the event of their gross negligence.

This assumption of risk is made on behalf of myself and my legal representatives. I understand that as part of my participation in the Program, on-line class transcripts are posted for other class members to view for the duration of the program.

The University or Vtrim® reserves the rights to dismiss or exclude any person whose continued participation, in our judgment, would disrupt the Program or put that person or others at risk.
