Job skills may get your employees in the door, but it’s their people skills that will make or break the deal. Companies and individuals that practice sound business etiquette skills will realize the results in productivity, profits and retention. The primary principals of etiquette, consideration, respect and honesty, are also the key ingredients behind relationship management, essential in today’s competitive marketplace. Despite “Casual Fridays” and “telecommuting” in today’s workplace, business etiquette is still relevant and important for business leaders to know and practice. Peter will share what has changed in business etiquette, as well as what remains the same, sharing stories and tips from the front lines of the etiquette trenches.
Peter Post is a director of the Emily Post Institute and author of three etiquette books, including The Etiquette Advantage in Business: Personal Skills for Professional Success, a completely revised and updated look at the world of business etiquette. Peter also wrote the New York Times bestseller Essential Manners for Men and its follow-up Essential Manners for Couples. Since 2004, Peter has authored The Boston Sunday Globe’s weekly question and answer business etiquette advice column, “Etiquette at Work.” The column is distributed by The New York Times Syndicate.
