Mini Grants

The Mini Grants provide an average of $500 for research expenses; costs over this amount must show matching funds from other units. Students may use the funds to cover the costs related to research and creative projects, such as disposable /consumable media for the lab or studio, printing, specialized software, admission fees, rental of equipment, or participant incentives. Students may not receive funds for living expenses during the academic year or for charges incurred for UVM courses.

Applications reviewed on a rolling basis and awards are made until funds are exhausted. Students MUST be ready to begin the research when making application. All training must be complete for the student and her/his faculty sponsor. Proper IRB or IACUC protocols must be approved and current. Review may take upwards of three weeks once a completed application (including faculty form) arrives in the Office. Plan accordingly.

Students may receive no more than two (any combination of Mini and Travel) in any given academic year, nor more than three Minis over their tenure at UVM.
