V-TRC March 2017 Update

UPDATE (March 2017)

The V-TRC (Vermont Transportation Research Collaborative) FY17

V-TRC develops the research agenda between UVM and VTrans. Over the winter of 2016-2017, the VTrans Research Section reviewed proposals from the previous cycle that were not funded, and the recommendations of sponsors from ongoing and recently completed research projects for continued research needs. Out of that process, the VTrans team asked for proposals, following the new proposal format set up for V-TRC, from six research teams:

Previous Research Project Title Previous Principal Investigator
Network level assessment of Vermont bridges for improving resiliency under extreme events Mandar Dewoolkar
Prediction and Mitigation of Scour for Vermont Bridges

Mandar Dewoolkar
Long-Term and Short-Term Measures of Roadway Snow and Ice Control Performance James Sullivan
Intelligent Compaction for Embankment, Subgrade, and Base Materials Construction in Vermont Ehsan Ghazanfari
Examining how Disinvestment in Vermont’s Roadway Infrastructure Network may Impact Access to Critically Important Locations David Novak (BSAD)

VTRC Assessment: Advancing Tech Transfer Julie Dowds
Glenn McRae

Proposals are due March 31, 2017, and VTrans will prioritize and select a set of V-TRC projects to fund in the Summer of 2017. Later in 2017, VTrans and UVM will announce the process for the next cycle of problem statement generation and project development.
