About Us

UVM Surplus is a function of the UVM Recycling & Waste Management program. Our mission is to keep quality furnishings out of the landfill through the sale of surplus furniture and other materials which are no longer useful to University departments. Items from University departments are stored at the Wheelock Barn in South Burlington prior to sale.

 News & Updates

Our public sales are closed for the season. Please check back in the early Spring when we will resume our weekly sales.

In the meanwhile....Visit our friends at the State of Vermont Surplus Property  at their new location in Waterbury, Vermont.

Instructions for University Departments

UVM Departments:  How to Request a Surplus Pickup

Submit a FAMIS Service Request on-line to have surplus items (e.g. furniture, computers, junk) picked up from your department or building.  Please do this by submitting a "Service Request" at the Physical Plant's  FAMIS SELF SERVE website. Go to  Submit a Service Request  for more information.   After we receive your request, the UVM Surplus/Recycling team will pick up your items and determine whether they are usable for resale, or whether recycling or disposal is required. Departments are charged a nominal hauling fee for pick up and/or disposal of old surplus items.

* NEW* For pickup of Appliances, Lab Equipment or Moveable Equipment Valued at over $5,000, a supplemental form is required in addition to the on-line FAMIS Service Request.   Departments must download and complete this Surplus Disposal Form for all appliances or lab equipment regardless of value, and for all moveable equipment valued at $5,000 or more. (This form does not apply to furniture and computer equipment).  Complete form, make a copy. Attach one copy to the item or equipment to be picked up; send original copy to UVM Surplus via campus mail, fax or email.  For more information on proper procedure, please phone Surplus/Recycling at 656-5731 or email <recycle@uvm.edu>
