Our research centers are vigilant and discovering great things. Our Gund Institute for Ecological Economics conducts ground-breaking research about shifting the world's economies toward sustainable human wellbeing, while our Vermont Lung Center has been conducting nationally significant research about lung disease since 1972. Anxiety and Health Research Laboratory
The Anxiety and Health Research Laboratory is an experimental psychopathology research laboratory designed for the study of emotional vulnerability as it applies to the etiology of anxiety-related disorders, particularly panic disorder.
Cardiovascular Research Institute
This Fletcher Allen/UVM institute is dedicated to reducing the incidence, morbidity and mortality of heart and vascular diseases through improving prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in Lung Disease
Through an affiliation with the Vermont Lung Center, supports investigators in lung disease by enhancing their competitiveness for NIH research grants.
Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit
The Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit (CNRU) is part of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and Fletcher Allen Health Care.
Communication Sciences, Department of, housing Eleanor Luse Center for Communication, Speech, Language and Hearing
The Department of Communication Sciences plays a key role in tying liberal arts to health and educational issues through state-of-the-art faculty research labs and clinical facilities.
General Clinical Research Center
Supports researchers conducting clinical studies of normal and abnormal body functions and human disease.
Health Behavior Research Center
Develops technologies to enable greater participation of patients in their medical care.
Health Promotion Research Office
Furthers the knowledge and understanding of health promotion and disease prevention (currently, tobacco control through smoking prevention and smoking cessation, the promotion and surveillance of effective breast cancer screening, AIDS prevention, diabetes prevention, and reducing alcohol use by youth) through the development of theory-based rigorously controlled research in health education.
Mass Spectrometry (Matthews' Research Group)
Use mass spectrometry to measure stable isotopically labeled compounds in order to study metabolism in humans.
McClure Musculoskeletal Research Center
The McClure Center is dedicated to understanding different musculoskeletal injuries and disorders including occupational and sports injuries, as well as non-traumatic and congenital disorders.
Neuroscience Center of Biomedical Research Excellence
Aims to provide the research and intellectual infrastructure to support a Center for Neuroscience Excellence at the University of Vermont, including supporting the research development of a core group of junior faculty who will become leaders in the center.

Collaborative effort to build critical mass and infrastructure in genetics.

A Program on Lung Biology and Disease which has been in existence at the UVM College of Medicine since 1972.

Ecoinformatics Collaboratory
Seeks to empower students, researchers and decision makers with concepts and tools that make handling and communicating natural system knowledge as natural and intuitive as working with written documents, e-mail, and spreadsheets.
Entomology Research Lab
A team of scientists committed to the development of effective biological control agents for forest, greenhouse and vegetable insect pest management.
Horticultural Research Center (Hort Farm)
A 97-acre farm of trees, shrubs, perennials, apples and small fruit. While the Hort Farm is used for agricultural research and the instruction of UVM classes, it also is open to visitors.
Integrated Research on Water in the Environment
Integrated Research on Water in the Environment (IRWE) is a closely interacting, coordinated but diverse group of faculty and student researchers at the University of Vermont who share interests in water.
Research Center for Groundwater Remediation Design
Creates and disseminates knowledge on computer-based technology that is designed to achieve least-cost solutions to contamination problems.
Rubenstein Ecosystem Science Laboratory, Leahy ECHO Center for Lake Champlain
Research and teaching conducted in the Rubenstein Ecosystem Science Laboratory focuses on physical, chemical, and biological processes in the greater Lake Champlain Basin ecosystem, and the impacts of human activities on this system.
Space Grant Consortium, Vermont
The Vermont Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) is one of a network of 52 university-based Space Grant Consortia representing every state, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.
Spatial Analysis Laboratory
The Spatial Analysis Laboratory research facility located in the School of Natural Resources using GIS, remote sensing and spatial statistics to address problems in natural resource ecology and natural resources planning.
Transportation Research Center (TRC)
Designated as a national University Transportation Center in August of 2005, the Transportation Center is housed in the Provost’s office with a clear mission to involve all colleges in all aspects of center programs and projects.
 
Vermont Agricultural Experiment Station
The Vermont Agricultural Experiment Station was established in 1886 as a state and federal partnership to serve the agricultural needs of the state through research. Projects cover a broad range of critical areas including agricultural products and other agriculture-related economic opportunities; water quality; health and nutrition; and plant and animal gene function.
Vermont Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit
The Vermont Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit is part of a nation-wide program initiated in 1935 to promote research and graduate student training in the ecology and management of fish, wildlife and their habitats.
Vermont Monitoring Cooperative
The VMC aims to better coordinate and conducts long-term natural resource monitoring and research within Mount Mansfield State Forest, the Lye Brook Wilderness Area of the Green Mountain National Forest (GMNF) and other relevant areas in Vermont.

Center for Sustainable Agriculture
Integrates university and community expertise to promote sustainable farming systems throughout Vermont and the region.
Gund Institute for Ecological Economics
Aims to improve the ways that training and research in science, economics, and public policy are approached. Research includes dynamic spatial modeling of both local and global ecological-economic systems.
Northeast Center for Food Entrepreneurship
Provides comprehensive assistance to beginning and established food entrepreneurs, thus promoting sustainable economic development of rural communities. A joint effort between the Food Venture Center at Cornell University and the Center for Food Science at the University of Vermont.
Paul Miller Research Center
Includes the university's research dairy farm, the Ellen A. Hardacre Equine Center, Solar Barn and other facilities. Visitors are welcome during scheduled hours.
Proctor Maple Research Center
A field research station established in 1946. Visitors are welcome to see firsthand how maple syrup is made.
 
UVM Farms
Four off-campus facilities that provide research, educational and outreach opportunities for researchers, students, agricultural producers and the public.
 
Vermont Advanced Computing Center (VACC)
Provides computing infrastructure and expertise for the purpose of developing and supporting competitive research and commercial activities.
Vermont Agricultural Experiment Station
A state/federal partnership aimed at serving the agricultural needs of Vermont through research, including assuring the profitability of the state's major agricultural products.
Vermont Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research
Contributes to building an infrastructure which will improve the research competitiveness of Vermont scientists and engineers as well as bring National Science Foundation resources to the service of the broader community.
Vermont Tourism Data Center
VTDC, located at the School of Natural Resources at the University of Vermont, has been conducting research on various aspects of the Vermont tourism industry in partnership with the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing.

Center for Research on Vermont
A clearinghouse for Vermont-related research, serving state government, public schools, institutions of higher education, museums, cultural and social agencies, and the general public.
Center for Rural Studies
A non-profit, fee-for-service research organization that addresses social, economic and resource-based problems of rural people and communities and that also serves as the U.S. Census Bureau's Vermont State Data Center.
Center on Disability and Community Inclusion
Part of a national network of developmental disabilities programs established to support individuals with disabilities and their families through research, evaluation and other services.
Community Participatory Action Research (CPAR) Network
The CPAR Network is an alliance of UVM affiliates with local, national and international partners who seek to support and advance participatory action research conducted in partnership with, and for the benefit of, the larger community.
Community-University Partnerships & Service Learning (CUPS)
CUPS facilitates connections among university and community partners to address real world challenges through engaged scholarship and transformative learning experiences.
George Perkins Marsh Online Research Center
Provides access to transcriptions and images of selected letters in the correspondence of George Perkins Marsh, a 19th-century lawyer, diplomat and scholar from Vermont.
Humanities Center
Supports interdisciplinary teaching and research in the humanities; focuses on graduate education.
John Dewey Project on Progressive Education
Aims to build on the knowledge base and heritage of progressive education begun by John Dewey and others in the early part of the 20th century through research, publications, conferences and forums, and community outreach assistance. 
Legislative Research Shop
A group of students which, under the supervision of a political science professor, supplies information and conducts research for the Vermont State Legislature.
Rural Studies, Center for
A non-profit, fee-for-service research organization that addresses social, economic and resource-based problems of rural people and communities and that also serves as the U.S. Census Bureau's Vermont State Data Center.
